Da un lato un attore, ma anche un uomo di cabaret, Jacques Dufilho, dall'altro un cineasta, ma anche un uomo di televisione, Jacques Baratier. Da un lato un'improvvisazione straordinaria, che, partendo da un canovaccio, lascia libertà totale all'immaginazione, dall'altro un regista che sa che l'improvvisazione è una forma d'arte essenzialmente televisiva. Il risultato: due ore di film in cui Jacques Dufilho ricrea il personaggio del vecchio contadino, di una signora centralinista, d'un professore, di un regista tedesco. Ad ogni sketch si alternano estratti di una conversazione con Jacques Dufilho.

On one hand, an actor, but also a cabaret man, Jacques Dufilho; on the other hand, a cineast, but also a television man, Jacques Baratier. On one hand, an extraordinary improvisation that, starting with the a plot, leaves freedom completely up to the imagination; on the other hand, a director that knows that improvisation is an art form that essentially has to do with television. The resulting two hours of film, in which Jacques Dufilho recreates the characters of an old farmer, a telephone operator, a professor, and a German director. These sketches are interposed with extracts from a conversation with Jacques Dufilho.
